Baseball Field Dedication
Baseball Field Dedication
Coal Grove High School dedicated the baseball field to Coach John Jones.

Coach Jones was a Hornet.  He attended the Coal Grove School district, starting at the Monitor building and continuing thru his graduation from the high school in 1983.

After attending Morehead State University and receiving his degree in education.  Coach Jones was hired at Collins Career Center, and later took the WECEP program at Dawson-Bryant High School.

Coach Jones started his high school baseball coaching career as an assistant varsity coach and junior varsity coach.  He took over the program as the head coach in 1994, which he kept until 2009.  Coach had a total of 172 wins during his head-coaching career.

When the new school was built in 1994, Coach Jones worked hand in hand with the architects to design the new baseball complex, and once complete he spent endless hours working on the field to make sure it was in top notch condition.  I believe that Coach loved working on the field as much as coaching the game its self.

Coach Jones loved the game of baseball, but he was more to his community than just a baseball coach.  He has a husband to Janet, a father to his two children Jacy and Jeb.  He was caring teacher to his students, and life long friend.  So it is with GREAT pride and in loving memory that the baseball field is hereby named  John Jones Field.
